Song of Solomon for Students - As Seen on FOX 8 this Morning

Frontline Student Ministries Filed Under: Labels: , , , , ,
Welcome to Frontline Student Ministries. My name is Cody Mummau. I serve as the director of Frontline Student Ministries. As a youth pastor and a parent, I am deeply concerned with the issues facing students in our area. One of the most important areas I believe that we can help our teens grow and maintain a healthy lifestyle is in the area of developing relationships with the opposite sex. That is why I am so excited to share about the incredible event coming right here to our area called "Song of Solomon for Students."

This conference is not new to this area. Two years ago we were fortunate enough to host it at Brookwood Church in Burlington. This year, as interest has grown, the team has moved it to a larger facility. We will be in Mebane, NC at the Mebane Rec Center.

I could recreate a bunch of information regarding the conference itself right here and then send you to the site to register (where you'd find the same info) or I could just send you to the site.

JUST REMEMBER - This is the last week to buy your tickets online and receive a discount.

Trip Lee:
If in our car you hear that boom-bep and you hear some dude's rep
It ain't dem folks that boast, it's folks that tell you where the truth's at
We don't wanna hear about dimes and dope (nope)
We don't wanna hear about nines and smoke
We don't wanna hear about movin packs and foolish cats

Frontline Student Ministries

Frontline Student Ministries Filed Under: Labels: , , , ,
Quick Overview: We are the student ministry of Brookwood Church in Burlington, NC. We are called Frontline because of our believe that students are on the frontlines of the cultural battle in our society. Media, advertising, fashion, everything is geared at capturing the heart and loyalty of teenagers.
Our mission is to take the gospel of Jesus Christ and present it to students Middle School-College and in fulfilling the purpose of our church we will equip them to become faithful, fruitful followers of Jesus Christ.

In 2009, the students of FSM in agreement with the leadership have said that it is our vision to see FSM more actively engaging the students of our local community. Looking at a map of our neighborhood, we’ve narrowed our focus to reach students within a 10 block radius of our facility through various means of outreach this year.

We will continue to welcome any and every student that walks through our doors. We begin this year working our call to reach the world with the love of Jesus Christ by first taking it to those just outside our doors.

Love God, Love People, Change The World -Brookwood Church

Mission: Frontline has been called to reach the student population of Alamance County by their senior year of High School with the good news of Jesus Christ (II Cor. 5:18), disciple students in their walk, and move students into ministry opportunities to help them reproduce their faith in others.

Vision:
  • FSM will develop a top quality weekly event to share Biblical teaching, faciliate Christian fellowship with others from various schools and ministries, and provide opportunity for students to share their faith with others. This event will incorporate worship, music, media, drama, games, and a sound biblical message that continually points people to Christ through the understanding of God's Word.
  • FSM will also provide opportunities for students to grow through Bible study groups which will dig deeper in the Word and provide accountability.
  • FSM will hold various events, retreats, and provide excellent trips that are affordable and beneficial, relevant, and life changing for students
  • FSM will be known as innovative, unique, resourceful, and effective.
  • FSM will be a partner with many local churches to conduct youth leader training, combined events, mission trip preparation, and curriculum design.
  • FSM will see 100% growth in each year of the 5 years following this vision statement (Fall 2008) within the ministries it conducts.

Core Values:
Truth - Teaching from THE source of Truth; Authentic relationships based on truth
Excellence - In everything
Service - We lead by serving
Teamwork - We are a team throughout the Frontline network with one common goal

Guatemala Recap: Day 7 - Ahhh Antigua

Frontline Student Ministries Filed Under: Labels: , , ,

Today was a bittersweet day for sure. By days end we would bid farewell to Brittany and Will. Their schedules only permitted them to stay for a week. However in the week they were with us, they contributed so much to the projects and to the group as a whole. Each of us knew there would be a tremendous loss without them here. The cool thing was to hear how the missionaries were going to miss them too.

The amazing part of the day was our opportunity to spend time in Antigua, Guatemala. Because of the rains, the school group who had planned to do camp had canceled giving us more time to accomplish our tasks. We were then able to take Saturday to rest. Early in the morning, we boarded the bus for Antigua along with the missionaries. A certain excitement flowed through the bus for this unanticipated adventure.

In Antigua, we all ate at the world famous...ok the Frontline famous McDonald's. If you ever travel with is to Guatemala you will eat there too...it's great! We spent 1/2 an hour together eating, taking pictures, etc. We even were able to include Senorita Mrowca (Team Guate '06 member) in the group photo even though she was in Austin, TX at the time.

After brunch, the groups split up to explore the wonderful town of Antigua. The rich colors, the wonderful restaurants, and of course the market. The day seemed to fly by. After hours of fun and exploration, the group began to come together near the Campero. The cool day had been a welcome respite from the hot work days in the valley below. Now it was time to go back. Kristina and the kids were at the hotel awaiting Will and Brittany. We said our good-byes and then they were off in a tuk-tuk (to who knows where ;-).

Darkness began to settle in as we returned to camp for dinner. The heat invaded every part of us as we exited the bus. Tomorrow was church and a day of rest but as we walked through the camp, we knew our work was ahead too. We were determined to finish our trip strong.
